How to Make Great Homemade Conditioners

Conditioning plays a big part in keeping your hair healthy, and some good hair conditioners can be made out of ordinary kitchen products. Most of these should be down before you wash your hair, and you should plan to spend extra time washing them out with normal shampoo. Depending on the length of your hair, you may have to double or even triple these recipes to make them effective.

For a tropical conditioner, mix one mashed avocado with one can of coconut milk. Apply it throughout the hair, and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

For a mayonnaise conditioner, apply enough mayo to cover your hair and wrap it all in a shower cap. Cover your head with a warm towel, and relax for about 30 minutes. You may need to wash your hair twice to remove the mayonnaise.

Boil two cups of water. Place two green tea bags in the water. Allow them to steep and then remove them. When the water cools down, pour the mix over your hair and let it sit for five minutes before rinsing.

Honey is a common conditioner. For a simple honey and water conditioner, just mix equal parts of the two and run it through your hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing. For a banana and honey condition, mash one ripe banana and mix it with 1/2 cup of honey. Apply it to damp hair and let it sit for 30 minutes. You may have to wash your hair twice to remove all the honey.

For an avocado and egg yolk conditioner, mash one avocado until it's creamy and mix in one egg yolk. Place this mix on your hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. Egg yolk can also serve as a conditioner when it's mixed with 2 tsp. of olive oil. Massage that into your scalp and hair and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Olive and almond oils are helpful conditioners that can work with other elements. Mix 2 tsp. of olive or almond oil with a few drops of rosemary oil, warm it up a little, then work it into a damp scalp. Put a towel around your head and let it sit for 45 minutes.

You must rinse and wash your hair after any of these treatments. After washing your hair, pour apple cider vinegar over it, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. This helps bring out the shine in your hair.
