How to Make Basic Fat Burning Diet Soup

The Basic Fat Burning Soup Diet (also called the Cabbage Soup Diet) is a cleansing diet that consists of eating unlimited amounts of a vegetable soup to produce rapid weight loss. It is generally part of a seven day plan that calls for small amounts of fruits, other vegetables and protein. The soup also can be incorporated into other diets as a low-calorie snack or side dish.

Things You'll Need
  • Large soup pot
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 6 green onions
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 cans of diced or whole tomatoes (28 ounces)
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 package of onion soup mix (1 1/4 ounces)
  • 8 cups of water
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Hot sauce (optional)
  • Garlic powder (optional)
Tips

1. Chop cabbage, onions, celery and peppers into bite size pieces. Spray soup pot with cooking spray and add the vegetables.

2. Cook the vegetables for five minutes on "Medium High" heat. Add the tomatoes and onion soup mix, and stir.

3. Pour 8 cups of water into the pot, thoroughly covering the vegetables. Set the heat to "High," and bring the soup to a boil.

4. Reduce heat to "Low," and place a lid on the pot. Simmer the soup for at least 30 minutes or as long as two hours, for a stronger flavor.

5. Add a pinch each of salt and pepper before serving, then taste the soup and season to your liking. Add two drops of hot sauce or 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder for more flavor.
